The more than five million law-abiding members of the National Rifle Association have enjoyed discounts and cost-saving programs from many American corporations that have partnered with the NRA to expand member benefits.

Since the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, a number of companies have decided to sever their relationship with the NRA, in an effort to punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, nurses, shop owners and school teachers that live in every American community. We are men and women who represent every American ethnic group, every one of the world’s religions, and every form of political commitment.

The law-abiding members of the NRA had nothing at all to do with the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System, or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement.

Despite that, some corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice. In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms are characteristics of a marketplace they very much want to serve.

Let it be absolutely clear. The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen’s group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation’s leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services. We follow a policy here of avoiding heresay, unbased-opinion pieces, editorializing, rants, raves, Tweets, twits, and the like. I’ve read a lot (a lot) of hateful commentary this past week or so, and am waiting for something concrete to take shape so we can present it here in these pages. Until then: Boycotts work both ways…

  1. I couldn’t have said it any better than the NRA did. Keep up the great work people! Oh yes, I love being a part of the National Rifle Association!

  2. I have antied up to the next step up from “Life membership”. This NONSENSE of the COMMON/DESPICABLE “common sense” used by the ANTI-Constitutional DemocRATic communist/muslem party members, is PURE DUNG with the actions of DOMESTIC TERRORIST GROUPS such as splc, blm and antifa.

  3. I agree with you Glenn – boycotts do work both ways!
I will not do business with the companies that have pulled discount member services from the NRA.
All law abiding gun owners both NRA members and non members (that’s a huge number) need to get out and vote in elections to keep our constitutional gun rights unhindered.

    Regards,
    GS

  4. Punishment of the innocent.

Why does every situation wherein some idiot shoots up a school, church, mall–whatever, result in the hand wringers attempt to punish law abiding gun owners? The rifle used in the Florida shootings did not walk itself into the school and open fire. Please keep us informed of the follow-up. I will certainly boycott any organization that dropped the NRA. I will let my spending do my talking for me.

    1. Why? Because it’s never about the guns – it’s about *control*. Anyone who looks at the real statistics – provided by the FBI, police, et.al. – can easily see that AR-15’s are a non-starter IF someone is truly looking to reduce deaths caused by guns (assuming someone is so mind-numbingly stupid that they blame the tool and not the user). They blame innocent people because they want to make use of force the sole domain of government. Tyrannical governments (and their corporate owners) don’t LIKE people who can fight back/defend themselves – history is very clear on this.

A legitimate government would never attempt to disarm the population – there would be no need as the government is functioning to benefit the population. Only corrupt and tyrannical governments – those that function to benefit the few oligarchs, bureaucrats, and banksters, want a disarmed population. The only thing that keeps them even remotely in check is the fact that we are armed.

  5. The NRA needs to publish a list of the those companies that have dropped any benefits to us as NRA members!!
They need to get on with it!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. The NRA should be punished for having idiot spokespersons like Dana Loesch. Her sick and racist comment about the media loving “crying white mothers” is one of the worst things I have heard in many years. It is because of her that we see this backlash. I will not renew my NRA membership until she is ousted. I hope other decent, law-abiding gun owner members do the same.

    1. Mr. Cooper, with all due respect, possibly you should go back and listen very carefully to what Ms. Loesch said about crying white mothers…I believe she’s making the point that the MEDIA is not interested in the mothers in the ghettos crying over their dead children, only the urban white mothers. IMHO, she made a very salient point regarding the one sided, drive-by media…

      1. I heard her complete comment. It was another NRA lie, disgraceful and racist. The media constantly reports on the shootings that occur in the high crime neighborhoods of our cities. There is no way her remarks can be justified or rationalized. She has to go, as does the present NRA leadership that supports her. She went too far as an NRA official. I have been an NRA member for many years and have been tolerant of their misinformation and mischaracterizations as there are a number of positive things that they do. I hope you will also have the good sense to call for her ousting.

        1. Stuart, since you keep saying the NRA lies all the time, why would you be a member, or are really a member?

The city of Chicago has many times MORE than 17 young black men killed every weekend, Unless it is a police officer shooting a young black man in Chicago, it never makes the news and Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the U.S. Dana is spot on and upsets liberal gun grabbers because she speaks the truth.

I’ve been a proud NRA Life member since 1967! Currently a Benefactor Life Member, and send the NRA-ILA a nice donation every month!

    2. Yes, I agree. Pro 2nd Amendment and I too, will not renew with an organization that favors guns over lives. Gun fanatics,
Wayne and Dana should be ashamed.

    3. Mr Cooper,
CharlieKing1 makes a very good point, but I’m sure it is one you will not likely aknowledge. You obviously have no problem taking a fragment of the whole and making it fit your narrow view. But then, many liberals are quite good at that when playing the race card, something so feely, and irresponsibly, done that it is now a ‘given’ in nearly every instance.

    4. I think Dana Loesch does a great job being both direct and to the point… Keep her NRA.

  7. visa dont needN NO more negative attention ,,let them withdraw thier support and ill cut up my card, use another that… SUPPORTS N.R.A. WE CAN DO IT tired of left wing peeing my face. NO MORE!!!

  8. Why is it that when a Muslim terrorist does something we are instructed to not blame all Muslims? Yet when an idiot man shoots and kills 17 student and teachers ALL honest law abiding NRA members are blamed and held to account.

    1. Why is it that when a drunk driver kills a family, the drunk driver is blamed – not the car – yet when someone shoots another person or persons, the gun is blamed, and not the person.

      Liberal Logic.

  9. In business and/or personal use/travels, I have used each of the firms formerly providing benefits to NRA members. They do not need me and I do not need them. Because of the responses and positions taken by both “sides” of the firearms debate, I have decided to now become a life member of the NRA. Thank you to members, employees, officers, and board members.

  10. The NRA works for the firearm industry. It uses your donations to promote elected officials that will preserve gun ownership for all.
Wayne LaPierre and the NRA will storm headlong into any legislation restricting the use of any firearm. Unfortunately this bull-headed tactic will backfire and the politicians will, in their own little warped way, create excessive gun control restrictions. Now if the NRA was smart they would at least give the appearance that they are concerned about public safety and interested in common sense gun control. It’s only prudent to take the approach of acting now or have it en-acted for you by our politicians. Finally – Gun Control is coming!
