Two sophomores were wearing the NRA shirts when they say they were singled out in class by their teacher, who started schooling them on why guns are bad.

“She was basically being attacked in class,” said mother Charlene Craig. “That guns kill people,” said Craig.

It’s a lesson Craig says was way out of line. “I think he’s there to teach. I don’t think he’s there to discuss his personal beliefs.”

It happened during history class on Friday.

Craig: “He basically yelled at her, telling her that she would be writing an essay if she disagreed with him.”

Craig says her 15-year-old daughter was lectured, while another student was sent to the principal’s office for refusing to take off the NRA shirt — a shirt that supports lifestyles they’ve grown up within families of hunters and farmers.

“That’s what she is, that’s what she does,” said her mother.

The shirt had an NRA logo on the front, and on the back were pictures of shell casings outlined in an American Flag. Below that reads the words “National Rifle Association.” What’s missing from the shirt is a picture of a gun and exactly why Craig says the students should have been left alone. “The dress code clearly states weapons,” said Craig.

According to a statement from the Lodi Unified School District, “…the school administration reviewed the t-shirt in question and determined that it did not violate school dress code policy.”

Craig says she realizes it’s a sensitive topic but says students shouldn’t be punished for the political or personal beliefs of their teachers. “I am going continue to send my daughter to school in it. I don’t see that there’s a problem.”

Lodi Unified also says it plans to refresh all staff about dress code policies, so this type of incident does not happen again.

  1. California should be kicked out of the USA and all federal money should stop for supporting communism. When I found out some local firefighters we’re going to help fight the fires with my tax dollars, I was not impressed. No more donations from me. This state is an embarrassment to our country.

  2. Technically, there was nothing wrong with that student’s shirt, except that maybe the teacher did not like it because it advertises an organization that is colluding with those Russians. That was the last straw for me with that organization; I did not renew my membership, and I hope others do the same. Their fool leadership has to be sent a strong message to stop taking money from people who want to destroy our way of life.

    1. Stuart H Cooper just how stupid are you? The NRA would know more collude with the Russians than you would But I would suspect you more than the NRA because of you clearly a lefty liberal and out to hurt the NRA because they protect peoples rights something you and your phony friends want to take away from us real Americans

      1. You seem to be very naïve. Of course the NRA is involved with Russian conservatives, including that Butina who was recently arrested, and have likely been engaging in money-laundering activities with their “contributions”. Protect my rights? Are you kidding? They are un-American and involved with the very people who want to take those rights away! Wake up! Contact the NRA and let them know your concern. That would be the American thing to do.

      1. I was an NRA member for many years and a staunch defender who would point out to critics the good work and firearms training, safety and security programs they have. I would always visit their table at gun shows I would go to. Plus, I always liked their “American Rifleman” magazine. I ignored their misinformation and politics, and their schilling for the gun manufacturers, but the Russian thing I cannot ignore. They claim to be losing money. Could it be due to members not renewing in large numbers? I doubt they would admit to this.

        1. You, Stuart H Cooper, are a shill for the gun-grabbers! The NRA is the only game in town to protect and defend the 2nd Amendment, The gun grabbers are mostly left-wing socialist democrats and know full well they can’t impose there will on an armed America they will do anything to discredit the NRA. Let’s see out of 5million members one turned out to be a Russian spy? That is pretty good odds, and what are they spying on the blueprints of a 1911 ACP? You make no sense and only do more to get others like me to contribute more to the NRA to fight misinformation like the BS you’re trying to spread we are not buying it Stuart the shill snowflake……That you are!

          1. Looks like you have drank too much of the NRA Cool-Aid. You should take Trump’s advice and not believe what you see and hear. The NRA leadership are traitors to our Constitution and democracy by their Russian connections. I hope you will eventually take your blinders off and recognize this. Demand they step down if your are a good American and NRA member!

          2. Please show me how to verify what your claim about the NRA I would love to see what makes you so sure of your self Stuart, thinking you would not go off the rails unless you had real verifiable proof but I do think your pink pussy cap is on way too tight. And I do think your trolling this sight

        2. You make claims that are not backed up by any sort of confirming information or facts. I much more believe that you are a troll from the liberal left and are lying unless you can prove your assertions. Show us your membership card from when you claim to have been a member. Give us web sites to prove your assertion about Russia. Otherwise just quit. Nobody here believes you. No intelligent and well informed adult would do so unless you actually prove it.

          1. Just Google “Butina NRA” for all the details of the NRA Russian connection. It’s all over the Internet and was in the news. My name is on file with the NRA. I also wrote an article for the “American Rifleman” magazine about the 1888 Commission Rifle that you might be able to find in a back issue. As a Midsouth customer, I get “The Shot Report” regularly and read through it, commenting on occasion about an article. I am an antique rifle military collector and shooter and you can see me on “Kragman shooting his” videos.

          2. Stuart, I do have to applaud you for attempting to plant the seed of doubt about our beloved organization, the NRA.
We may not agree with all the NRA supports and stands for(as we may not agree with all our parent or friends beliefs), but their efforts have been instrumental and mostly supportive of upholding our 2nd amendment rights.
So until another collective voice comes along and ‘proves’ to be as supportive, United We Stand!
And I also think that these faceless comments really don’t accomplish anything other than vent our concerns…

          3. Yes, I was supportive of the NRA as they do a lot of good work that they should publicize more. But members should take the leadership to task over their Russian connection which has disgusted me to the point of not renewing my membership. I will be glad to rejoin if they drop their Russia dealings. I hope you looked on the Internet about all this.
As to other shooting organizations I belong to, I have not looked into that too much. Possibly the Northeastern Arms Collectors Association. I am somewhat of an “honorary” member of the New South Wales Rifle Association in Sydney, Australia who I shoot with when I visit my daughter there. I’ll be there next month in a 100 and 200 meter competition. Wish me luck!

  3. What actions were taken against the teacher for failing to follow the dress code. The dress code is in writing and not left up to the individual to made their own decisions.

  4. So Stuart if you are indeed a shooting sport enthusiast what if any organization do you support? There are many, the NRA isn’t the only one in town, however it’s been around the longest, 11-17-1871.

  5. Just ask the teacher if he believes in freedom of Speech and expression as stated in the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights.
If he says “no” fire him. If he says “yes” sue him for violating her rights. Make damn sure you sue the teacher and not the school. Make it hurt him, not the taxpayers.

  6. This teacher was dead wrong and it would indeed be appropriate to discipline him in some way.
I often get a lot of feedback on comments that I make on various articles. Clearly, I am on an opposite political spectrum than a lot of you. But the fact that you take the time to express your views and debate an issue is what makes us the nation that we are and people that I may disagree with, but have the highest respect for.
