The 429 DE was designed to enhance the Desert Eagle platform. This new cartridge has a 25% velocity increase and 45% energy increase over a 44 Mag (240gr, 6-in. barrel). It has a velocity of 1600 FPS with 240 grain bullets and 1750 FPS with 210 grain bullets.

The 429 DE incorporates a 30-degree case shoulder and a long enough neck to properly hold and crimp a 240 grain bullet without recoil induced set back. Based on the now famous 50 AE cartridge, the 429 DE is made with Starline brass, and loaded by HSM in Montana with Sierra bullets.

“This new cartridge was engineered and designed specifically for the Desert Eagle Pistol, keeping in mind that the DEP is known world-wide for its awesome firepower and performance. The 429 DE propels that history into the future,” says Jim Tertin, Design and R&D for Magnum Research.

429 DE rounds are available in boxes of 20 and distributed by Magnum Research, Inc. Available options include 240 grain soft point and 210 grain hollow point.

To accompany the 429 DE cartridge, Magnum Research will soon be releasing a lineup of 429 DE 6-inch barrels in a variety of finishes. The 429 DE barrels will be compatible with any MK19 USA or Israel Desert Eagle Pistol with a wide .830-in. rail on top of the barrel and use a 50AE magazine and bolt. More soon…

Note: The 429 DE is similar to, but NOT INTERCHANGABLE WITH, the obsolete 440 COR BON, but properly engineered with a sharp 30-degree shoulder, consistent headspace, and reliable function and velocity.

Magnum Research Upgrades BFR Series

Facebooktwittergoogle_pluspinterestyoutube

Magnum Research (MRI) has updated its line of BFR (Big Frame Revolver) wheelguns.

All BFR special-ordered calibers, and all twelve BFR standard models with in .454 Casull, .44 Magnum, .30/30 Win, .45/70 Govt., .460 S&W, .500 S&W, and .45LC/.410, and with barrel lengths of 5 inches up to 10 inches will feature the new upgrades.

It all began in 1999, when an independent gunsmith/designer named Jim Tertin, was approached by MRI to manufacture the new large caliber revolver for them. Tertin mastered the base pin design, firing pin, barrels, frame and cylinder, and fine-tuned the timing of all BFR revolvers, and then put it into production for Magnum Research. In 2005, Tertin sold the BFR design to MRI and was hired by them as the Director of Manufacturing. His focus is now that of Director of Design, Research and Development for all MRI products including the iconic Desert Eagles and Baby Desert Eagles.
Among the changes:

The hammer spur is now taller and narrower than previous models. It was raised vertically, allowing for easier cocking. The new hammer is machined stainless steel and is made with extremely tight tolerances.

The BFR’s product line now employs a soft-rubber one-piece grip, with a taper suitable for single-action shooting. It is slightly longer than the original two-piece grip. The new Hogue grip is a brand new screwless design that has never before been offered on a single-action revolver. Each grip is shipped with an assembly/disassembly tool that aids in installing or removing the grip. The new grips and hammers will fit any BFR manufactured since 2000 and are available directly from Magnum Research.
The last new feature offered on the entire BFR product line is the new BFR logo. The logo was designed by Kevin Yoon, marketing manager for Kahr Firearms Group.

Magnum Research has announced two new models of its stainless-steel Desert Eagle, these chambered in .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum. The company, based in Greeley, Pennsylvania, introduced the stainless-steel Mark XIX in .50 AE about a year ago.

“When we introduced the first stainless steel Desert Eagle Mark XIX in .50 AE last year, the demand was overwhelming, and it was difficult to keep up with that demand,” said Frank Harris, VP of sales and marketing.

The new Mark XIX Desert Eagle .357 Magnum (DE357SRMB) and .44 Magnum (DE44SRMB) have all-stainless-steel frames, slides, barrels, and rails accented with attractive black appointments. Both models have 6-inch barrels and integral muzzle brakes, which will replace the add-on brakes Magnum Research previously offered. Both list for $1,931 and are scheduled to ship during first quarter of 2016.

Handily, the integral muzzle brake makes the new models the same overall length as the company’s standard 6-inch-barrel handgun, so the same holsters will fit the new models. The DE357SRMB and DE44SRMB also feature new Picatinny bottom rails for accessories.

Harris said, “Unquestionably, the Desert Eagle Mark XIX series is the most popular handgun that Magnum Research manufactures, and now, in stainless steel, the .357 and .44 Magnum, as well as the .50 AE, look more commanding than ever before.”
